Outlander actor Sam Heughan teased the fans to expect news regarding the future of the show, and now we’ve got an official announcement.
Network Starz has given the show a greenlight for a 12-episode seventh season, bringing Diana Gabaldon’s An Echo in the Bone to screens and continuing Claire and Jamie’s romantic adventures.
Showrunner Matthew B Roberts said in a statement: “We are so excited Starz has given us the opportunity to continue the epic Outlander journey.
“We can’t wait to get into the writers’ room and start breaking Echo in the Bone and look forward to giving the fans another season of this exhilarating story.”
Hopefully this will make Droughtlander a bit more bearable, because season six has only recently started filming and it could still be a while before it comes to our screens.
“We started in January,” Heughan told Digital Spy exclusively, “and I guess fans will have to do the maths.
“I can’t do it off the top of my head. But I guess the Droughtlander is going to last a little bit longer.”
Outlander airs on Starz in the US. The show streams on Amazon Prime Video in the UK.
